My towels are coming along. The right fabric features two doilies. The bigger doily had a big hole, so I layered a smaller one on top. It was one of those happy mishaps.

Hand-stitching the lace to the towels worked really well, because it's so much easier to catch all those finely crocheted lace pieces than using a machine.
There are many uses for these fabrics. I actually like the look when the light shines through. Maybe I'll convert one into a blind. Or curtain.
Without the light shining behind, the texture stands out more and the towels have a nice old fashioned look to them. If you can't find old fashioned lace pillows, the fabric can be folded over and sewn shut at two sides. I would just add some string to the open side to secure a pillow insert into the towel. (In the picture, they are draped over the pillows, to give you the idea.)

I ordered this beauty from the talented Cathy McMurray. Psst, our daughter doesn't know yet, but she'll get it for the holidays.
Can't start early enough to give them some art, don't you think?

This is my daughter's room. She hates it right now, because it's pink, and she's a tomboy and loves everything ocean. We'll be trading bedrooms soon (sigh), so she can have our blue room and hang some dolphins and sharks at the walls. Moving seems easier than painting.

Lindas almofadas!
ReplyDeleteThe towels are really beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteI just published my first coin purse, if you want to take a look, http://orlosubito.blogspot.com/2010/10/monedero.html
Thank you!!!!!
Lovely work ... :0)
ReplyDeleteYay for Cathy's art! I love the idea of surrounding our kids with beauty early, and her work is a lovely way to do that.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely! I love the slight differences in colour when the light shines through..
